In her latest body of work, Terra Keck delves into the concept of outer(other)space through alleged narratives of alien and angel visitation. These encounters serve as allegorical representations of inter-consciousness connection, where the perception of “The Other” mirrors humanity's cosmic understanding of the universe. Across dimensions, beyond celestial bodies, and through the depths of the ocean, Keck's artwork invites viewers to contemplate the expansive possibilities of an inherently compassionate existence. Internal and external spheres of our holographic universe collide in the uncertain footing we experience every day. With the canceled future of the human race hanging over our heads, what else can we do but look up and out?
Employing the reductive process of erasing, both materially and conceptually, Keck explores what is created by what is left behind. Through the removal of graphite strata, she reveals layers of meaning and cosmic traces of the ethereal. Each figure depicted in her work embodies a sense of otherworldly benevolence, extending a prismatic hand to viewers—both within and beyond the confines of the picture plane—to partake in the profound journey toward collective enlightenment.
