PACE UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY

41 Park Row, NY, NY 10038

Pace University is pleased to present Rosy-Fingered Dawn, an exhibition in the University’s brand-new, ground-floor art gallery at 41 Park Row, curated by Jacob Rhodes and Jen Schwarting.

Rosy-Fingered Dawn is an epithet from Homer’s “Odyssey,” a portent of new beginnings in an ongoing journey. It speaks to the opening of this new exhibition space in an academic realm with visionary and pedagogical potential. Eliciting the human form, the phrase personifies future possibilities, establishing the figure as a point of departure. The twelve participating artists investigate ideas around the body in society, through works ranging from interactive sculpture to community-based performance. Their disparate formal practices are linked by shared, open approach, and inquiry-based processes that are earnest and generative.

Jacob Rhodes is a curator who founded and co-directs Field Projects, an artist-run space in Chelsea. Jen Schwarting is an artist who teaches drawing and painting at Pace and edits the journal Field magazine in conjunction with the gallery. Field Projects is dedicated to championing emerging artists and providing opportunities for mid-career artists embarking on new ventures in the field.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm. For more information, please contact the Art Department at finearts@pace.edu or 212.346.1894.
